Peel, Pale Ale & Population

Weather: Overcast again, unseasonably warm
Mood: Rather chirpy and energetic
Word: Mésalliance (marrying someone of inferior class, been watching Downton innit)
Rosie: Said "bye fireworks" when a little afraid at the display last night
Lunch: Lamb roast and all the trimmings at Greenwich Union
Exercise: 4-mile run with backpack
Booze: Several pints of Meantime's London Pale Ale
Purchased: Pub lunch
Media: John Peel Desert Island Discs archive podcast, Downton Abbey
Notes: Enjoyed a relaxing, home-bound weekend without any need for travel and little on the agenda. Saturday started with bacon & eggs, then read the papers while Ruth & Rosie watched Love Actually (minus the soft porn scenes), and finished with sausage casserole at Buffy & Daf's flat and fireworks on the heath. Sunday began the same way, but I worked off the lard with a run round the park and a swim at the fun pool at the Arches with Rosie. Then it was a tip-top roast at Greenwich Union, a few pints and a brioche and chocolate ice cream pudding. We later dashed off to my parent's house for a family get-together and buffet, which Rosie enjoyed a bit too much, running around like a loon for a few hours. I've now settled down on the sofa for the Downton finale.

Blog: I'm sure most people have already tried this link to see where they fit into the population explosion of the past few centuries, but to mark this (frankly worrying) milestone I've written a little 4-line stanza:
"Our planet's great omnivore
Expands by one billion more
What Gaia might have in store
No one dares say for sure"

It's cheery, I know, blame those Sunday night blues.
