Dublin Ditty

On our first trip across the Irish Sea
We were greeted by Ryanair's fanfare jubilee
Then by bus we trundled across the silvery Liffey
To Donnybrook (Dublin's very own Chelsea)
And dear friends Charlotte and Geoffrey

Irish stew, a brew and one-eyed moggy Bobby
Provide a warm welcome as we step into the lobby
Before wine and Cobra send us to the land of noddy

Next morning in Dublin's warm sunshiney glow
To Trinity College across St. Stephen's Green we go
Dazzled by the calligrahic Book of Kells from long ago
And by the dusty grandeur the Long Room has to show
Until Gruel's salt beef sandwiches break the flow

Parched pilgrims, to the holy site of black stuff we head
To marvel at all things Guinness, and then upwards tread
Reaching Gravity bar with panoramic views all around us spread

Then to the epicentre of oirishness, Temple Bar's Temple Bar
Where the Sallys danced a jig and sang Whisky in the Jar
While outside a leprechaun waved and tourists arrived from afar
As we slipped away in search of tapas treats at the bodega
Then headed home for a whisky and wine extravaganza

Sunny Saturday heralded a trip to the coast at Sandycove
Where to Forty Foot Drop and Joyce's Martello tower we did rove
Before out popped Johnny Vegas from the pub's treasure trove

Scrumptious home cooking rounded off a stunning day
Before Cranium materialised and all six of us did play
Like Sims sempiternally socialising their lives away
But sadly Sunday came and after brunch we made our way
Back to Stansted and our car - where was it, section A?
